Horse-drawn Hearse

The glass sided Horse-drawn Hearses began to appear in the 1870s and quickly became very popular as they were less sombre, and gave an opportunity for people to see the coffin.

The design evolved throughout the end of the 19th century from Gothic to Baroque with lots of beautiful engraved glass and elaborately carved or cast decoration.
